Regrounded™

The 4-Step Calm Under Pressure Framework

A structured trauma-informed program designed to help development and humanitarian professionals move beyond stress, anxiety, and trauma responses — and restore calm, clarity, and control.

Working in development and humanitarian environments can expose professionals to extreme pressure, complex crises, and emotionally intense situations. Even after an assignment ends, the body and mind may continue reacting as if the stress is still present.

You currently may notice:

  • Your mind replaying past events when you're trying to rest

  • Feeling constantly alert even in safe environments

  • Emotional spikes, irritability, or anxiety

  • Difficulty concentrating or sleeping

  • A growing sense of exhaustion or emotional overload

Regrounded™ is designed to help you break these patterns.

Over six weeks, the program guides you through a structured process that helps calm your stress response, interrupt mental loops, and restore your ability to think and function clearly under pressure.

The Regrounded™ Framework

The program follows a four-step structured process, combining trauma-informed coaching, guided deep-integration work, cognitive repatterning techniques, and somatic regulation practices.

You will participate in 12 guided sessions (two sessions per week) over a six-week period.

Step 1 – Stabilize & Understand

Weeks 1–2

The first step focuses on helping your system settle and identifying the stress patterns that are currently affecting you.

Session 1 – Intake & Pattern Mapping

We explore your current challenges and identify the stress triggers, emotional responses, and mental loops that may be affecting your wellbeing.

Session 2 – Understanding the Stress Response

You learn how stress and trauma responses develop in the brain and body, helping you understand why these reactions occur and reducing the shame often associated with them.

Session 3 – Regulation Foundations

You are introduced to practical breathing and grounding techniques that help regulate the nervous system and reduce emotional spikes.

Session 4 – Stabilizing the System

We strengthen emotional regulation skills and prepare your system for deeper integration work.

Step 2 – Deep Integration

Week 3

Once your system is stable, we begin working with the deeper experiences that may still be driving your stress responses.

Session 5 – Preparing for Integration

We identify key experiences that may still carry emotional intensity and prepare for the integration session.

Session 6 – Guided Deep Integration Session

Using a guided deep-integration process based on Rapid Transformational Therapy principles, we work to reduce the emotional charge associated with past experiences and update how your brain and body respond to them.

After this session, you will receive a personalized integration recording designed to reinforce the new emotional patterns.

Step 3 – Repattern & Strengthen

Weeks 4–5

In this step, we strengthen your ability to interrupt recurring stress patterns and build emotional resilience.

Session 7 – Integration Review

We review the shifts that occurred during the integration session and reinforce the new emotional responses.

Session 8 – Cognitive Repatterning

You learn practical NLP-based techniques to interrupt negative thought loops and replace them with more constructive patterns.

Session 9 – Emotional Regulation Under Pressure

We practice tools that allow you to remain steady and composed even when facing stressful situations.

Session 10 – Strengthening Resilience

You develop strategies to maintain emotional stability and confidence moving forward.

Step 4 – Integrate & Future-Proof

Week 6

The final step consolidates everything you have learned and prepares you to maintain your progress long after the program ends.

Session 11 – Anchoring Calm Under Pressure

We anchor the ability to remain calm in challenging situations and strengthen your sense of internal control.

Session 12 – Integration & Forward Strategy

We develop a personal resilience and stress-management plan so that you can maintain your progress independently.

A Note on Scope

Regrounded™ is not psychotherapy and not crisis intervention.

It is designed for professionals who are functioning in their roles but want to reduce stress patterns, restore emotional balance, and regain their ability to operate calmly and clearly under pressure.

Is Regrounded™ Right for You?

Regrounded™ is designed for development and humanitarian professionals who appear capable and committed in their work — but are carrying more internally than they should.

You may find this program particularly helpful if you recognize some of the following experiences.

Regrounded™ may be right for you if:

  • You work (or have worked) in development or humanitarian environments that exposed you to intense pressure or difficult experiences.

  • Your mind replays past events or assignments, especially when you are trying to rest.

  • You feel constantly alert or on edge, even when you are no longer in a stressful environment.

  • You experience anxiety, irritability, emotional spikes, or sudden waves of exhaustion.

  • You notice that your concentration, sleep, or emotional balance is not what it used to be.

  • You feel that the experiences you have been through are still affecting you more than you would like.

  • You want to regain calm, clarity, and internal steadiness so you can continue working and living with purpose.

Many professionals who join this program are high-functioning and respected in their field, yet privately feel that the accumulated pressure of their work has taken a toll.

Regrounded™ provides a structured way to address these patterns and restore a sense of stability and control.

Regrounded™ may not be the right fit if:

  • You are currently experiencing severe psychological distress or a mental health crisis that requires clinical or medical care.

  • You are looking for ongoing psychotherapy or clinical trauma treatment.

  • You are not able to commit to the six-week process and the practices between sessions.

In such cases, it may be more appropriate to work with a licensed mental health professional.

The First Step

Because this program works with personal experiences and emotional patterns, we begin with a Confidential Discovery Call.

This conversation allows us to:

  • Understand what you are experiencing

  • Determine whether Regrounded™ is the right approach for you

  • Ensure the program is aligned with your needs

If we both feel the program is a good fit, we can then discuss the next steps for enrollment.

About Koen — Why This Work Matters

For many years, I worked closely with international organizations, NGOs, and development programs across different parts of the world. Like many professionals in this sector, I was deeply committed to the work and the impact it could create.

But the reality of humanitarian and development work is that it often exposes professionals to situations that are emotionally intense, morally complex, and sometimes deeply distressing.

At one point in my own career, I experienced a traumatic event that left a lasting imprint on my mind and body. Even after the situation had passed, I noticed that my system continued reacting as if the danger was still present. The stress responses, emotional spikes, and constant alertness were difficult to shake.

Through a combination of evidence-informed approaches, coaching methods, and personal inner work, I eventually experienced a profound emotional release that allowed my system to settle. The anxiety and tension that had been stored in my body finally resolved.

That experience changed the direction of my work.

It showed me that even strong, capable professionals can carry invisible stress long after the external situation has ended — and that recovery is possible.

Today, I help development and humanitarian professionals who are experiencing similar patterns regain calm, clarity, and emotional steadiness.

Professional Background

In addition to my lived experience in the development sector, I have trained in several professional modalities that support this work.

My background includes certifications in:

  • Clinical Hypnotherapy

  • Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)–based approaches

  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – Practitioner and Master Practitioner

  • Rapid Transformational Coaching (RTC)

  • MBTI Personality Assessment Practitioner

These approaches allow me to work across multiple levels — cognitive, emotional, and somatic — helping clients interrupt stress patterns and restore internal stability.

My broader professional career has also included work in international development, organizational strengthening, program design, and leadership support for NGOs and development organizations.

This combination of field experience, coaching practice, and structured frameworks allows me to work with professionals in a way that is both practical and deeply respectful of the realities of the sector.

A Calm and Structured Approach

Regrounded™ was created to provide a clear and structured path back to calm and clarity for professionals who are still carrying the weight of difficult experiences.

The program does not focus on endlessly revisiting trauma.
Instead, it focuses on helping the brain and body update how they respond to past events so that you can move forward with greater steadiness.

Many people who come to this work are highly capable professionals who simply want to feel like themselves again.

Helping them achieve that is the purpose behind Regrounded™.

What Changes Clients Typically Experience

Every person’s experience is different, and progress depends on individual circumstances and commitment to the process.

However, many professionals who complete Regrounded™ begin to notice meaningful shifts in how they think, feel, and respond to stress.

Clients often report improvements such as:

A quieter mind

The recurring mental replays of past situations begin to fade. Instead of constantly revisiting what happened, the mind becomes calmer and more present.

Reduced anxiety and emotional spikes

Situations that previously triggered strong emotional reactions start to feel more manageable. Clients often experience fewer sudden waves of anxiety or overwhelm.

Greater emotional steadiness

Instead of feeling constantly on edge, many participants begin to feel a deeper sense of internal stability and balance.

Improved concentration and sleep

As the nervous system settles, it becomes easier to focus, think clearly, and get restorative rest.

A renewed sense of control

Clients often describe feeling like they are “back in the driver’s seat” of their thoughts and emotional responses.

Calm under pressure

Even when facing challenging situations, participants frequently find they can remain composed and respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.

What This Means in Practice

For many development and humanitarian professionals, these shifts translate into:

  • Feeling more grounded in daily life

  • Having greater clarity in decision-making

  • Restoring energy and motivation for work and life

  • Reconnecting with the sense of purpose that brought them into the sector in the first place

The goal of Regrounded™ is not simply to reduce stress in the moment.

The goal is to help you restore the calm and clarity needed to live and work with steadiness and purpose again.

Why Development and Humanitarian Professionals Often Carry Hidden Stress

People who work in development and humanitarian roles are often highly committed, resilient, and deeply motivated by purpose. They work in complex environments where the stakes are high and the needs are urgent.

But the nature of this work also means that professionals are frequently exposed to situations that can leave a lasting impact.

You may have experienced:

  • Working in crisis environments where difficult events unfold quickly

  • Carrying responsibility for decisions that affect vulnerable communities

  • Witnessing suffering, injustice, or loss in ways that stay with you

  • Operating under constant pressure, deadlines, and uncertainty

  • Moving from one intense assignment to the next without time to process what happened

In many cases, professionals continue performing at a high level even while these experiences accumulate internally.

From the outside, everything may appear normal.

Yet internally, the system may still be carrying the imprint of those experiences.

This can show up as:

  • A mind that replays past situations

  • A body that remains on alert even when you are safe

  • Emotional spikes, anxiety, or sudden exhaustion

  • Difficulty switching off or getting restorative sleep

  • A sense that the pressure has never fully settled

None of this means that something is wrong with you.

It simply means that the mind and body sometimes continue responding to past stress long after the situation has ended.

For many professionals in this sector, what they need is not more willpower or resilience training.

What they need is a structured way to help their system finally settle.

That is the purpose of Regrounded™.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Regrounded™ psychotherapy or clinical trauma treatment?

No. Regrounded™ is not psychotherapy and does not replace clinical mental health care.

It is a structured trauma-informed coaching framework designed for professionals who are functioning in their roles but want to reduce ongoing stress responses, anxiety patterns, and emotional overload that may be connected to past experiences.

If you are experiencing severe psychological distress or a mental health crisis, it may be more appropriate to work with a licensed mental health professional.

What if I’m not sure whether what I experienced counts as trauma?

Many professionals hesitate to use the word “trauma” when describing their experiences.

You do not need a formal diagnosis or a specific label to benefit from this program.

Regrounded™ is designed for professionals who simply recognize that past experiences may still be affecting their thoughts, emotions, or sense of calm — even long after the situation has passed.

The Confidential Discovery Call is an opportunity to explore whether this framework is appropriate for your situation.

How confidential is this program?

Confidentiality is taken very seriously.

Many development and humanitarian professionals prefer to keep personal matters private, especially when they work in leadership roles or within close professional networks.

All conversations during the program are strictly confidential, and no information is shared without your consent.

Do I need to share all the details of what happened?

No.

The program focuses on helping your system settle and update its responses to past experiences. This does not require reliving or extensively recounting every detail of what happened.

The approach is designed to be contained, respectful, and paced according to your comfort level.

What if I have never done coaching or integration work before?

That is completely fine.

Many participants are new to these types of approaches. The program provides a clear structure and guidance so that you can move through the process step by step.

You do not need any previous experience.

How much time should I expect to commit?

The program includes 12 sessions over six weeks, typically scheduled twice per week.

Between sessions, participants may spend a small amount of time practicing simple regulation exercises or listening to integration recordings. These practices are designed to be manageable alongside professional responsibilities.

What results can I realistically expect?

Each person’s experience is different, but many participants report improvements such as:

  • A quieter mind with fewer intrusive thoughts

  • Reduced anxiety and emotional spikes

  • Improved concentration and sleep

  • Greater emotional steadiness

  • A renewed sense of calm and clarity

The program is designed to help you restore the internal stability needed to continue your work and life with greater balance.
